 Volunteering-The art of selfless giving

Oftentimes we have heard of issues and concerns that might need urgent action, either for a noble cause like helping the deprived or for some important social issues. However, it is often observed that people are hesitant to come forward for important causes, especially those concerning monetary involvement. Though such issues might be a topic of discussion related to the money being rightfully received by the ones for whom it is intended, there is no denying the fact that unscrupulous elements may at times be involved who try to gain from the sympathy of people.

Volunteering can be practiced if one is aware of oneself and their surroundings, so that any issue that may require involvement can be immediately addressed. Being involved in volunteering not only addresses the issue concerned but also gives inner peace and inspires oneself to take up more such works. It also motivates other people to pitch in their efforts when they see that others are volunteering.

Volunteering can be done at any age, and it is best that parents incorporate such habits into children at a tender age, as such habits bring out empathy, which is an essential trait that would help them in their future. Some forms of volunteering may require longer periods of involvement than others, which may lead to the volunteers dropping out midway, before the achievement of the final goals. There is also volunteering, which may require some sort of training/practice before the volunteers are fully involved in the process.

While volunteering, it is also vital that the volunteers are closely observant of the ongoing processes and render themselves to the cause as per instructions or communications as directed only because any mis-step may at times cause more harm than good. Thus, volunteering in groups is team work that may need the proper following of instructions in order to achieve the desired result. Also, one should never back out from individual effort for noble causes, even if there is no backup from others or a team to support the same.

It is important to understand that the causes that require volunteering should always have a connection from the heart, otherwise it contradicts its very purpose, which is selfless giving. Some people are observed to be involved in volunteering, but only for publicity, without being least concerned about the cause, which brings out an ugly picture of volunteering and demotivates the ones who are selflessly involved.

There is a lot to be learnt from volunteers who have selflessly devoted themselves to any cause. They are the change makers who help bring out the change instead of endless discussions on the same topic. Volunteering is a noble deed, best done selflessly from the heart and with a vision to inspire others to undertake actions in their hands instead of meaningless discussions and the hope that the volunteer’s contribution brings out the much-needed change in society.
